- Job title – Assistant Archivist
- Organisation – Secretary’s Department, Bank of England
- Location – London
- Type – maternity cover
To cover a period of maternity leave starting in March 2017 the Bank of England Archive is looking to recruit a cataloguing archivist to work on a varied collection of material from one of the Bank’s core areas, Financial Stability. The Archive is currently moving from a 30 to 20 year-release period in line with The National Archives and is now processing records from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. This period covers significant developments within the Bank and in the wider economy, including changes in the operation of monetary policy, bank failures, ‘Big Bang’, privatisation, alteration to supervisory arrangements, central bank independence, and much more. Files from the Financial Stability area reflect many of these activities, and will be consulted by internal and external users.
Reporting to the Archive Manager, the post will make a critical contribution to the achievement of the Archive’s cataloguing objectives and through this, will aid the wider understanding of the Bank and its work.
